MY STORY

Have you ever taken the time to ask yourself, “why do I do this?” or “why do I think this way?” and realize that it may be because of a past experience that you never took the time to process?

These very questions are what transformed my view on mental health. At one point in my life I realized that previous experiences had been affecting my perception of myself and life in general. With proper resources, I had the ability to reflect on these moments and process in order to overcome certain thoughts and emotions. It was when I began to see personal transformation that my passion to share how important mental wellbeing is grew. Many people are not properly educated on mental health, its importance and how it can affect an individual and I wanted to be the one to bridge that gap between the ability for someone to find healing and the lack of awareness and resources.

I also realized how cultural backgrounds play a role in our behaviors and ways of thinking. As a woman of color, and being from The Democratic Republic of Congo, I understand the challenges many people of color, especially immigrants may face when met with the effects of unaddressed past traumatic experiences. My goal is to provide clients with the opportunity to become more self-aware, to heal and to develop effective tools to help them thrive as their true self.

I obtained my Bachelors Degree in Sociology and my Master in Social Work from Salem State University. I am currently a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) for the state of Massachusetts. I have 9 years of experience within the social work field ranging from working with adolescents in the juvenile justice system to working with families involved in child protective services. I am also trained and experienced in working with victims of Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC).
